Who Actually Is Aisha

I never fit the wellness mold. So I built a platform that does not require you to.

I never fit the wellness mold. So I built a platform that does not require you to.

I booked my first nail appointment by myself before I was ten years old.

Not because my mom took me. Because I picked up the phone, called the salon, and made the appointment myself. I had been obsessed with nail art since I was six. By third grade I had enrolled in a remote nail tech course. At eighteen I went to nail tech school in New York City and then decided not to pursue it as a career, which tells you everything about how I operate. I do not get interested in things halfway.

I grew up in a hair salon. My mother is Japanese, my father is Ghanaian with Burkinabé roots, and I was born in the Bronx and raised in Japan. So from the very beginning my life looked like something most people could not quite place. I did not fit neatly into one box culturally, aesthetically, or professionally. I stopped trying to fit into boxes somewhere around kindergarten when I realised I had a deep personal problem with being compared to anyone.

I started classical ballet at four. Did competitive cheer dancing. Went to school in Utah, attended a Mormon church for a period. My father is Muslim, so yes, I have lived several lives inside one life. I now hold a Pilates teaching certification and a certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I have studied at Harvard Business School. I have also eaten an embarrassing amount of junk food in my lifetime and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

I love wellness. I have always loved wellness.

Not because it was trendy but because I grew up inside it. In the hair salon, in the dance studio, in the way my mother cooked, in the way my father moved through the world. Wellness was never abstract to me. It was always just life.

But for a long time I did not feel like I belonged in the wellness space.

And I want to be honest about why.

I have tattoos. I am half African and half Asian in a space that has historically centered a very specific look. Slim, usually white or close to it, clear skin, slick back hair, a very particular kind of minimalist apartment that requires a very particular kind of income. I love junk food. I am not always thinking about detox. Some days my cortisol cocktail is just a regular coffee and a chaotic morning and that is fine.

I saw a former supermodel say recently that for the longest time she equated wellness with pain. Starving. Workouts that hurt. And I think a lot of people carry that same equation even if they have never said it out loud. Wellness equals restriction. Wellness equals expensive. Wellness equals looking a certain way, earning a certain amount, having a certain kind of body that moves through the world with a certain kind of ease.

I do not fit that mold. I never did.

And for a while that made me feel like wellness was not fully mine to claim, even as I was getting certified, studying, building, experimenting, and genuinely loving every part of it.

Then I looked at Goop. I looked at Poosh. I looked at MindBodyGreen.

And I thought, I want this. I want exactly this. The editorial depth, the real content, the community, the products, the world of it.

But for everyone. Not just for people who look like that.

Because here is what I actually believe: everyone deserves to GLOW. Not as a slogan. As a real, practical, livable thing. No matter your financial situation. No matter what your body looks like. No matter where you are from or what your face looks like or whether you have tattoos or eat chips sometimes or cannot afford a $184 weighted pillow.

GLOW is not aesthetic. It is functional. It is what happens when your body, your habits, your environment, your emotions, and your energy actually support each other. When your life stops working against you. When things feel clear instead of heavy.

That is available to everyone. And nobody was building it for everyone.

So I am building it.

Life is Aishaaaaa!!!!! is not a perfect wellness platform. It is a real one.

Built by someone who grew up between continents and cultures and never quite fit the template. Who loves wellness deeply and junk food occasionally. Who has credentials and also bad weeks. Who is figuring it out in real time, through movement, food, rituals, resets, experiments, and a lot of honest writing.

You do not need to look like a wellness influencer to live well.

You do not need to earn a certain amount or follow a certain routine or want a certain kind of life.

You just need to want your life to feel better than it does right now.

That is enough to start. And this is where we start.

Welcome to LiA!!!!!
