The EMK Lookbook Vol. 001 Is Here!
Our first lookbook is now live. EMK's first seasonal lookbook, and what it is actually about.

What happened
EMK Beauty House™ has launched its first lookbook. Volume 001 is called Before the Heat, and it is live now on the EMK website.
The EMK Lookbook is an ongoing, seasonal visual record of textured hair in everyday life. Not a campaign. Not a brand statement. A document. Real styles, real people, shot with care and without ceremony.
Why this matters
Volume 001 features three collections: ROOT™, natural texture after a fresh cut and wash, BOUND™, simple rubber band sectioning as the beginning of structure, and BLOOMLINE™, full protective braided styling in three expressions, Classic, Bloom, and Twin.
The models are Coco and Mulan. They came in through an open call, shot on separate days, and it was only after both sessions were done that we found out they are sisters. Half Japanese, half Ghanaian, with different hair textures. We did not plan that. It happened, and it is exactly what this lookbook is meant to be about.
The concept came from Japan's traditional calendar of 72 micro-seasons, specifically the moment just before summer arrives, when the light is still soft, the colors are pastel, and something is quietly building. Before the Heat is that moment. The hair as foundation, not a problem to be managed, before the season changes and protective styling begins in earnest.
The full lookbook is available now on the EMK website. The Lookbook Correspondents series on EMK GLOW Press™ goes deeper into the making of Before the Heat, the Color Weather™ palette, the styling details, and the story behind the shoot.
