Compatibility Is Not a Score. It's the Spark You Create Together
September 8, 2026
Forget the percentage. Two charts don't get graded against each other, they get combined into something neither one could make alone.

Somewhere along the way, compatibility became a percentage. Type in two signs, get a number, treat it like a verdict handed down from somewhere official. 87 percent, proceed with confidence. 34 percent, maybe reconsider. It's tidy, it's shareable, and it's honestly a pretty flattened way to think about what happens when two people actually meet.
A score assumes a fixed outcome. A relationship isn't one
A percentage implies that compatibility is a property two charts either have or don't, measured once, done forever. Real relationships don't work that way. They're built, argued into shape, adjusted, and rebuilt more than once, by two people who are each, individually, more than one placement anyway. A single compatibility score can't account for a Sun sign that's stubborn but a Venus that's generous, or a Mars that fights hard but a Moon that repairs faster than either person expects. It's grading a duet using only one instrument's sheet music.
What we mean by "the spark you create together"
Here's the actual, more useful way to think about it: two charts meeting each other isn't a math problem, it's a combination. Something gets created between two people that didn't exist in either chart alone, the same way two ingredients can make a flavor that neither one tastes like on its own. A grounded Taurus and a restless Sagittarius aren't destined to clash just because one wants stillness and the other wants movement. Depending on the rest of both charts and, more importantly, depending on the actual two people involved, that pairing might produce exactly the balance each of them was missing.
This is where astrology gets genuinely interesting instead of just decorative: not "are these signs supposed to work," but "what does this specific combination tend to generate when it's actually in the room together."
What matters more than the sign pairing
A few things do far more work than sun-sign compatibility ever will: how each person's Venus wants to be loved, how each person's Mars handles conflict, and, underneath both of those, how willing each person actually is to show up as a full participant rather than waiting for the chart to do the relationship for them. A chart can tell you where two people's natural tendencies might rub or align. It cannot tell you whether either person is going to communicate honestly, show up on a bad day, or actually choose the relationship instead of just being statistically well-matched for it.
So what's the chart actually good for here
Not a verdict, a vocabulary. It can help you name what you need, what you tend to give, and what you might be unconsciously expecting the other person to intuit without ever saying it out loud. That's genuinely useful. It's just a different use than "will this work," which was never a question a percentage was going to answer honestly anyway.
Two people are not a compatibility score. They're an ongoing, specific, occasionally messy combination, and that's a far more interesting thing to actually be part of.
For fun, not fate. Spark Up every side of you.
