Before You Fly to Malaysia, Do This One Thing

The first Google results for Malaysia's arrival card are paid sites charging for a free government form. Here is the official link and everything you need to know.

If you search "Malaysia Digital Arrival Card" the first results are paid third party sites charging for something that is completely free. Do not use them.

The MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) is a mandatory pre-arrival registration form required for almost all foreign visitors entering Malaysia. It replaced the old paper landing card in January 2024. It is free, takes about 5 minutes, and must be completed before you arrive.

Bookmark it. Share it. This is the only link you need.

What you need to know

You can apply starting 3 days before your arrival date, counting your travel day. Do not apply earlier than that, it will not be valid. Everyone needs one including children. Parents can complete it on behalf of their kids. Singapore citizens are exempt.

If you hold a Japanese, Australian, UK, US, German, South Korean, New Zealand, Saudi Arabian or Bruneian passport you can use the autogates at KLIA upon arrival.

What trips people up

The official government website sometimes shows a QR code to access the form that does not work properly. If that happens go directly to the URL above. Do not pay anyone to do this for you.

BuLeJa Take

Malaysia's immigration process is genuinely smooth once you have the MDAC sorted. The chaos is in finding the right link. Now you have it.
